Clients are required to have had full clearance from their physician *6-12months post surgery, with no further surgeries required.

BILATERAL & UNILATERAL A.R.T

Whether a referral has been recommended by your Surgeon, Doctor, valued friend ~ or if you are reaching out independently, Samantha Rae (SamR) will reply to your inquiry as soon as possible.

In order to move forward, SamR needs to know your name, email, phone number, and the best time to reach you for a telephone meeting. We will need to discuss ‘how long it has been since your last surgery’ and ‘if you have any further surgeries planned’.

TIMING FOR A.R.T. CANDIDATES

*12 months postoperative is the safest amount of healing time before we can tattoo over various styles of scars and imperfect conditions (such as radiation damage or chemotherapy burns).

*6-12 months postoperative may be considered for clients who do not have scars running directly through a tattoo area.

Either way, we need to make sure your reconstruction has settled and no internal complications have come to be.

Final revisions, change of implant style and other/unforeseen health setbacks will postpone our efforts. Mastectomy surgeries have a significant range of results; each client arrives to their tattoo stage from a completely unique path.

From the initial phone meeting, SamR can discern an appropriate time to schedule a consultation and subsequent A.R.T. Sessions. In a consult your surgical history will be discussed and photo documentation collected in order to start your client file and booking process.

If you are travelling some distance to meet Samantha in studio, the consultation and first A.R.T. session can happen on the same day.

PERMISSIONS & PRESCRIPTIONS

Please ask your doctor or surgeon to write a Prescription for Nipple and Areola Tattooing to streamline the process. Samantha will provide an invoice for you to submit to your healthcare/medical insurance/taxes for a ‘hopeful’ reimbursement. The Areola Restorative Tattoo TEAM is working on special service provider status, province-to-province, state-to-state.

PRE-PROCEDURE CHECKLIST – A.R.T.

Areola Restorative Tattooing sessions are on generally between one to two hours. To ensure your safety and comfort, here is a checklist for you to review before your appointment:

• Arrive with clean skin free of lotions and/or perfumes.
• Dress for comfort.
• Prepare a few light layer tops such as a button down blouse, zippered active wear jacket or sweater, and wear a soft/natural fibre camisole or undershirt and a large cup style bra.
• Socks, slippers, house coat and personal lap blanket are permitted.
• Personal Water, snacks and refreshments are permitted, but please keep your items to a minimum.
• Husband, wife, friend or partner are cautiously permitted for specialty appointments.
• Set yourself up for success with a great night of restful sleep and a healthy breakfast.
• Prepare yourself to enjoy your studio time – music/YouTube/Netflix/Spotify are at our whim, entertainment requests are welcome.

PRE-PROCEDURE CHECKLIST – Decorative Mastectomy Tattoo (D.M.T.):

Decorative Mastectomy Tattoo services are generally scheduled as individual ‘PRIVATE DECORATIVE TATTOO DAY'(s), occupying a 5 hour block per appointment.

To ensure your safety and comfort, here is a checklist for you to review before your D.M.T. apt:

• Arrive with clean skin free of lotions and/or perfumes.
• Dress for comfort.

Bilateral A.R.T. / One Time Fee – $500

2-3 sessions may be necessary to achieve quality realism. Appointments may be booked 6 -10 weeks apart for safe and adequate healing time between sessions.

Unilateral A.R.T. / One Time Fee / $400

3-4 sessions may be required to match your natural side. Appointments may be booked 6 -10 weeks apart for safe and adequate healing time between sessions.

Decorative Mastectomy Sessions

$300 per appointment

Sessions are often booked as a 5 hour private block in Sam’s calendar.

We work within your comfort to achieve an amazing custom tattoo in a private peaceful atmosphere. Appointments may be booked together (see below) or individually over time as your budget permits.

4-6 weeks is recommended healing time between Mastectomy Sessions.

Booking Together

Mastectomy Sessions booked on a Sunday & Monday (for example) will be valued at $300 per day. Your entire design will be transferred to the skin and we will focus on ONE side of the chest/design each day. Proper bandaging will be applied at the end of the tattoo session(s), we will not touch the tattoo area from the previous day’s appointment.

PAYMENT

SamR issues each A.R.T client a dedicated invoice/sales receipt from her QuickBooks Online profile.
Cash or Credit Card Payment can be accepted upon receiving your special A.R.T. service (same day invoicing).

DESIGN PROCESS FOR SCAR COVERAGE

Your direct contact information is required and we will need to discuss your surgical history to project a timeline for your tattoo. We request that you collect art references, tattoos you have liked, describe your story, and prepare any questions you may have.

As per regular tattoo services we will require you to complete our Contact Request Form (click the link at the bottom of this page), and more specifically we will need to know:

• What (subject matter, symmetrical design or asymmetric)
• Where (left chest only vs bilateral vs trapezius scar coverage, right side)
• How big (inches or centimetres)
• When (tell me your general schedule of availability or request a selection of dates)
• How much (proposed budget/we can approximate how many sessions may be needed to complete your look)

HEALING TIME & AFTERCARE

• Plan to have your tattoo AFTER a scheduled vacation.
• Keep your new tattoo out of direct sunlight and do NOT sunscreen your tattoo for 3-5 weeks.
• No swimming / sweating or vigorous workouts for 3-5 weeks.
• Showering is ENCOURAGED but please ensure your hands are clean after removing the bandage and prior to cleansing your tattoo.
• Thoroughly wash your NEW tattoo with warm/hot water only – Do NOT ‘soap’ your tattoo
• Allow your skin to dry normally.
• Do not apply any lotions (or fragrance) directly to your fresh tattoo; Please wait 5 or more days for moisturizing (3 weeks for fragrance).
• There is no miracle cream to heal your tattoo – your body is designed to this on its own, please handle your tattoo as little as possible.
• Skin cells are fully regenerated at 6 weeks.
• Do NOT listen to your friends.
